The Altham site manufactures all of the Senator group furniture products. This includes systems desking, training and conference tables, screens etc, and a wide range of products especially developed for special applications.

Whilst the bulk of production is MFC we also produce veneer products. In addition to traditional lacquer finishing systems, we have a state of the art UV conveyor line.

Altham has been awarded ISO 14001 and the factory and offices are heated using waste material which is a by-product from the various manufacturing processes. In addition, the very well equipped commercial standard garage is installed with the very latest heating system using waste engine oils.

Many of the departments operate a two shift system, and at peak times of the year, a third shift is also introduced.

All employees enjoy a subsidised restaurant which is operated by Senators’ own employees.

The impressive product range is matched by the company’s production and stock capacity.

Senator carry over £3.2 million worth of stock, and with production sites of over 400,000 sq. ft, have the capacity to produce over 13,000 items of furniture and seating every week.

Senator has a sophisticated design facility housing designers, design engineers and prototype engineers who are constantly seeking to design and develop new and innovative products for the various Senator companies.

This design facility is also used to develop special products for large projects, and are able to react to detailed briefs as quickly as necessary.

During 2003 a very sophisticated disaster recovery desking system was developed within four weeks, and the company secured an order for 920 workstations as a result. This product will be introduced into the standard range in the latter part of 2004.

The Huncoat site manufactures a full range of seating products are manufactured covering entry level products right through to very high specification task and manager chairs including the very latest Enigma collection.

Most upholstery is carried out in-house and wood polishing is also carried out using the latest spray techniques.

Huncoat also houses the design studio including prototyping, testing facilities and design and engineering.

Normally a single shift system is in operation.
